CAPITALISM; A LOVE STORY (2009) movie review by Adones Quinto, BS Social Work

In this movie, it shows on what are the effects of capitalism in the people of America especially in the workers of America. Michael Moore is film maker explains the meaning of capitalism, “this is a process of giving and taking”. He begin the documentary in the roman empire, the most beautiful city in ancient world that people serve in the king only,  the disparity between the rich and the poor. This movie shows on what happened in the rich and the poor. The people who have a lot of money can joy and relax but the poor are always working to survive and experience hardship. Michael Moore believes that capitalism is a system which claims to reward free enterprise but in fact towards greed. The message of this movie is how the corporations took over and treated everyone who wasn’t rich. It shows that capitalism began under the presidency of Ronald Reagan’s and the former CEO of Merill Lynch Don Regan the president secretary of the treasury. The reaganamics plan of the Reagan took over and spilled into everything from general Motors bankruptcy and various closing of the manufacturing plants to thousands of  people getting laid off and loss their jobs. The real state went into many records of foreclosure, losing of jobs and bailout.

Because of capitalism many family members couldn’t afford their guarantee. In the movie he point that capitalism can take the insurance of the dead. “Dead peasant” in capitalism the company can take out the life insurance policies on their workers; they collect the benefits when the workers die. Moore also shows the reckless immoral gambling in America that also the cause of capitalism. Because of capitalism many workers lost their jobs and much company was bankrupt. Moore wants to show in the world the negative effects of capitalism of federal government. Many families got the heritage of their love ones because of this government. Many poor families in America got their state because they can’t pay their bills. Michael Moore goes to beg on the different banks in America to give back the money of the poor and the workers.

While watching this documentary I feel so enlightened in the reality and understand that it is the capitalism can do in the federal countries. It feels sad, most of all in the people and companies who can’t   pay their dept. Michael Moore wants to show in the people of America to speak on what Franklin Roosevelt want in this country. He cited Roosevelt’s second Bill of rights for the people of America. Roosevelt says, the citizens of America to have rights in home, jobs, education and health care. But this right was not happened in America.

Moore’s film is a lot more interesting than some of the filmmakers because it focuses on reality. We will understand many things in his documentary. For me I’ll rate this documentary as one of the most interesting documentaries throughout the film industry because this documentary awakens me on what happend to the federal countries just like the united states and also I really appreciate how Moore tried to educate us on what will happened if capitalism will be more prioritised than having democracy.
