some insights from Open Space x Appreciative Inquiry

a powerful approach to leadership in any kind of organization, in everyday practice and turbulent change.-Laarni Logatoc

after initial studies and explanations, it is important to increase our understanding about Advanced Research Education. there’s still a need to develop learning skills through workshops for teachers. Jonalyn Natal

To set out the platform in OST, the participants should first layout/create their agendas just like what we had in our activity. We thought first of the subject/topics and then each participant should voice out their ideas with regards to the said issues. At the end of the reports the class had the time to give/share some information for the improvement of the insights being presented by each group. – annie jane ola

I’ve learned the essence of AI, its constructive approach and its emphasis on SOAR (strengths, opportunities, aspirations and results) that if I could apply this in my teaching avenue, I will probably create a positive environment for my students to help them to be better.-Mavic Gonzales

Open space technology and appreciative inquiry are the two approaches that caught my attention because I think these two approaches would be a big help for me and I think it suits my personality. – Clariza de Guzman

EDM 202: social research methods

“Open space technology is the only process that focuses on expanding time and space for the force of self-organization to do its thing” according to our professor. I am one of the EDM 202 students in graduate school who experienced this technology. In our first activity, we became more tolerant and respectful to each other. In this conference, we are connected to each other and very much aware on what we are doing. It is more collective, interactive and more on collaborative. In appreciative inquiry, it focuses on how we build relationship to other because it is valuing the act of recognizing the best in people, by asking questions not just to judge them but to value, appreciate and to become more positivist than become negative thinker.

No man is an island.Even a man is a wide reader or has a lot of experiences, still there will be a creation of a much broader idea if a number people share various ideas. The open space technology and appreciative inquiry provide a comlpex web of ideas useful for a much adequate and rational point of view. Jhon Rex L. Sapunto

on Open Space Technology and Appreciative Inquiry

In the overview of the course, the terms inputsprocessesoutputsand outcomes were mentioned.  Surprisingly, as I attend the Training Course on Impact Assessment of RDE Projects at the Cavite State University which commenced today and will last until the 21st, the same terms surfaced.
Honestly, the concept of Open Space Technology was new to my ears before we had it discussed last Tuesday during our first meeting for the EDM 202 – Social Research Methods summer class.  However, as we progressed in the discussion, it became clearer to me that OST is an artistic way of self-discovery.  It allows one to share his ideas without actually having a particular agenda at all, but eventually starts focusing on something as other ideas are shared by other participants.  Something that we may call “emergent” since no one knows what exactly will unfold.  The said approach may also be considered as promoter of the concept of Appreciative Inquiry.         – CHRISTOPHER J.
